Darius has just learned how to make contact with a pitched ball and his baseball bat. And while we are very impressed, I'd say his batting average is pretty low right now - maybe 1 out of every 10 pitches.
We were "practicing" playing baseball the other night. And by practicing, I mean that I throw a ball, Darius misses, and then throws his bat in the air. It's a fun game - as long as you pay attention to where the bat is going to land. Well, every time Darius missed, he yelled "Jesus Christ." I kept my mouth shut for the first three swings and when I saw that we had a pattern here, I spoke up.
"Darius, bubba. Stop saying that. It isn't nice."
To which Darius replied, "Okay. Only daddies can say that?" and looked right at Neville.
It was priceless. Nothing like getting called out on your bad habit by your own child.
